Introduction to Emergency Research
LISTEN Conference - This meeting was held July 22, 2014 to identify and engage patients, advocates, and investigators to develop clinical trials together.
The UM Med School has a Family Centered Experience program where med students are paired with patients and meet over the course of 2 years. The patients/caregivers in this program may not be on any advocate listservs etc, but feel compelled to teach and help. Researchers may consider contacting the FCE program staff to reach patients/caregivers.
UM Patient and Family Care Center
Pipeline-to-Proposals funding opportunity through PCORI that will (hopefully) open for this side of the country.
Ambassadors through PCORI are patients and stakeholders who are interested in partnering with researchers and those bios can be found on the PCORI site.
PCORI also offers free training and webinars throughout the year, this is a great way for patient advocates to receive training as well as researchers who want to engage patients in their research. Register for email updates and apply to become a reviewer; this may help you to prepare other advocates and inform them on how to include patients/stakeholders in research.
